Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Communications and serving as an integral member of the communications team, the Communications Director will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of Alliance for Automotive Innovation’s Communications department. Candidate will field media inquiries and regularly write/produce a variety of association content – often on deadline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and produce informative and engaging content for external audiences including press releases, media statements, speeches, op-eds and related materials.
  • Develop regular content for social media, association website and industry newsletters.
  • Respond to media inquiries.
  • Collaborate with policy, advocacy and digital engagement teams on all association priorities.
  • Contribute to association events and special projects (podcasts, webinars, etc.)
  • Create presentations, articles, reports and related information for internal and external use.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual media activity reports.
  • Plan, create and oversee the design, content and production of communications materials.
  • Occasional travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in journalism, strategic communications, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 8 years of combined experience in writing, editing, political or corporate communications environment.
  • Familiarity with government or political process, preferably experience engaging on Capitol Hill or federal government agencies.
  • On-the-record experience.
  • Excellent and persuasive communicator; energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint presentations and web content management systems experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using social media.
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating creativity into action plans and output.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-reliant, problem solver and results oriented.
  • Ability to make decisions in a dynamic environment and anticipate evolving needs.
  • Passion for the association mission and the auto industry.

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. The anticipated salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the range listed. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
